Is the Jillian Michael’s Body Revolution a Waste of Money – All Revealed!
It’s Helen here and I’m guessing that you’re here because, like me, you’ve been struggling with your body for some time. For me, it’s pretty much been my entire adult life. It put me on a path to yo-yo dieting and a love-hate affair with exercise that saw me topping the scales at 194 pounds on my 31st birthday.
It was actually while stuffing chocolate birthday cake down my throat that I resolved to finally get on top of my body issues.
For the last decade, I’ve been enviously watching all those people on The Biggest Loser dropping ridiculous amounts of weight, so, when I came across a program put by Jillian Michaels, I decided to give it a shot. After all, she’s got hundreds of people down to their goal weight – surely, she could do it for me, too.

In this review I’ll share my honest, no holds barred opinion of the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. I’ll give you the honest truth to allow you to make a smart choice about the best program to lose weight and actually keep it off. I’ll also suggest an alternative to the Jillian Michaels Program that, I really believe, will get you better results faster – and for better value!
What is the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution?
The Jillian Michaels Body Revolution first appeared in 2012. As one of the trainers on the hit TV show The Biggest Loser, Jillian is one of the most well-known fitness celebrities on the planet. This program is designed to provide the services that contestants on the show get for everyone at home.

Who is the Program Designed For?
The Jillian Michaels Body Revolution was created to give the everyday person at home who is struggling with their weight success to the personal training skills of Jillian Michaels. As such, it is designed for anyone who has weight to lose. The big difference between those at home and the people on The Biggest Loser is, of course, that the contestants are in a controlled artificial environment, whereas people at home lack any of that support.
What I Experienced
I’ve discovered from bitter experience that the key to a successful at home weight loss program lies in its approach to eating. Unless you get that part down, it doesn’t matter how good your exercise program is. So, how does the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution stack up in this regard?
Well, the good news is that it does include a nutritional aspect. That includes a meal plan broken down to caloric counts. It provides you with 1200 calories per day – and that’s a big problem!
Like I said before, you don’t get the control and support at home that contestants on The Biggest Loser enjoy. Trying to stick to a 1200 calorie per day diet is HARD work. It will leave most people feeling deprived of food and in a state of hunger.
When you’re on a diet that make you feel hungry, you’re setting yourself up for problems. Like binging, cheating and falling off the wagon completely!
The regimentation of the diet goes so far as to dictate your calorictotals for every single meal (250 calories for breakfast, 400 calories for lunch, 150 calories for a snack and 400 calories for dinner). Jillian provides you with recipes for every meal, taken from her own cookbook.
That regimentation was just too prescriptive for me. As well as cutting back to 1200 calories, I was expected to cut out the following foods . . .
Caffeine is restricted to just 400mg per day!
This was too much for me. After three days of restricting myself to 1200 measly calories, I was going stir crazy – I was thinking of food all day long. As a result, I upped my intake by 400 calories to get my numbers to just below my maintenance level. That made more sense and allowed me to have the energy I needed and to stop thinking about forbidden foods all day long!
I’ve got to say that the workouts are pretty good. If you’ve ever seen Jillian putting contestants through their paces on The Biggest Loser then you know just what you’re in for. Every workout is about 30 minutes in length. They do require weights and cables so people who don’t have them are going to be at a decided disadvantage. It would have been much better if Jillian had provided none equipment alternatives to the weight exercises.
Does Jillian Michael’s Body Revolution Actually Work?
If you are a person with an iron will and the mental capacity to derive yourself of food, then the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution will help you to lose weight.
But, that’s the problem. With calories cut so low, the weight that you lose is probably going to include water weight and muscle tissue. That’s not good.
When you go off the Jillian Michaels program and your caloric intake goes back up, you are inevitably going to put that weight back on. In fact, you’ll probably put on more weight that you lost, so that you end up heavier than you were in the first place!
My bottom line, then, is that the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution will not work if your goal is long term fat loss.
The good news is that I found a program that really does deliver the results that I was after.

I have to admit that, unlike Jillian Michaels, I’d never heard of Jen Ferruggia before signing up for the program. But, I’ve got to say, that I was extremely impressed with her workout program. Unlike the Body Revolution program, it does have complete swap out options for people without exercises equipment.
Bikini Body Workouts also gives you a great balance between resistance and cardio training.
Jen’s program also provides you with a very comprehensive nutritional guidance program. It’s not a regimented as the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution program, which is a good thing. To use a well-wornanalogy, JillianMichaels program gives you a fish, whereas the Bikini Body Workouts teaches you how to fish. You lean the underlying nutritional principles that will allow you to eat cleanly your entire life.
The Bikini BodyWorkouts program does NOT restrict you to 1200 calories per day. It is a realistic, sustainable program that you can stay on your whole life!

After 4 weeks on Bikini Body Workouts, I am over the moon with my results. In fact, I’m so happy that I’m about to do something that I never dreamed I’d have the confidence to do . . . I’m posting my before and after photos so that you can see for yourself what Bikini Body Workouts have done for me.

In the end, I put too much confidence in my familiarity with Jillian Michaels when I went ahead and purchased the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. In the end, I was disappointed mainly because of the nutritional component (but remember, that is the key part).
From my experience, I cannot honestly recommend the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution.
But I do endorse and whole-heartedly recommend Jen Ferruggia’s Bikini Body Workouts. This complete fat loss program is a third of the price of the Jillian Michaels program – and, best of all, it really works!
